Community Clinics 

As part of their training, all students are required to integrate their new skills with hands-on practice in our Community Clinic.  Under the supervision of our expert core faculty, Wholistic Massage Therapy students gain real-life experience in a clinical setting. They learn to effectively communicate with clients to assess their needs and then apply the appropriate massage therapy techniques. Students enrolled in the Wholistic Health programs use information gained in the classroom to expand their skills in the client intake process. They then prepare personalized, nutritionally-based wellness programs (including detoxification) and provide healthy-lifestyle education tailored to each client’s specific health goals and challenges. EXPERIENCES GAINED BY THE STUDENTS
Involves the many aspects of running a professional clinic including:

• Scheduling and follow-up
• Professionalism in their personal presentation
• Professionalism in the presentation of their office and clinical work space
• Bookkeeping and record keeping
• Preparation of business forms
• Maintaining linens and massage oils
• Preparation of massage therapy and wholistic health intake forms
• Preparation of literature for client education
• Hygiene procedures
• Indications and contraindications to their scope of practice
• Strategies for handling a variety of challenging client conditions
• Professionalism in interactions with client

In addition, our clinic is a vital and valued participant in the health and well-being of our neighboring businesses, local residents, teenagers, and the elder members of our local community. All are welcome, and all can benefit from the collective wisdom and experience of our highly qualified faculty as well as the enthusiasm and powerful energy of our students.

By working one-on-one with clients in the community clinic, students gain a profound understanding and empathy toward those in need of healing touch and wholistic health education. As they become more involved with and learn from their clinic clients, they gain confidence in their skills and gain real-world experience in their field. Upon graduation, their clinic experiences will enable them to reach out to their own communities with compassion built upon a solid foundation of knowledge, skill and experience.

To create exposure to a more varied client base and further enhance skills, students have the opportunity to participate in events about town through our "Externship" class. These include providing massage to teachers on “Teacher Appreciation Day”, to nurses during “Nurse Appreciation Week”, to local businesses, at fundraisers, to athletes during local sporting events, etc. These real-life experiences translate into greater confidence as students, upon graduation, begin to market themselves in their new profession.

Upon graduation our new career professionals have the opportunity to begin working immediately at Sky Hill's Graduate Clinic.  This provides for a smooth transition from the classroom to the working world.  We are here to help our graduates every step of the way.  Menu of Services
